It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve wrote anything to you all so here I am! I’ve been so busy that I feel like I’ve barely had time to breath…much less blog (which is equally as important I know.) Life has been pretty crazy these past few months… I’ve been up to a whole lot! I finished off my junior year of college and am headed toward my senior year. So, in an effort to keep you all informed of what has been going on in the past year I thought I would do a quick post with “highlights” of my junior year.
My third year of college was definitely a year of growth. I started working not one, but two jobs during the school year so I can pay for school, rent, and unfortunately my expensive taste in clothing (yikes J Crew why you gotta play me like that?¿) I worked all year at Cortrust Bank as a Teller and Campus Marketer/Recruiter then started an Internship through the University in Social Media Marketing. (So go follow @USouthDakota on Snapchat, Instagram, and like the Charlie Store on Facebook woohoo!)
I’ve worked a lot on my photography and marketing skills which has been a lot of fun! This year has definitely helped me to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life. I now know what kind of “big girl job” I’ll be looking for next year. It’s crazy to think that this is my last ever summer to just have fun and get a break from busy life. Yikes!!
I’ve also had a great year with friends and family! I’ve grown a lot closer to my parents and sisters (it wasn’t possible to get any closer to my dog since Annie and I are best friends for life duh) I totally get why people say your family members become your best friends as you get older. It’s been a great year for everyone actually! My dad turned the big 5-0 this year and we kicked that off with a killer surprise party. He seriously had no idea! It really made me wonder what else I can get away with in our family… just kidding! (Kind of) My younger sister Carly had a great freshmen year at OGorman with their Varsity Basketball team winning the State Championship AND she just received 3rd place in the City Championship yesterday for Varsity Golf! (As a freshmen?! she’s incredible! I couldn’t even put on make up at that age lol) Katie also had a great sophomore year at USD! Wow 20 years later and we still spent the year only a door away from eachother as we coincidentally were placed in rooms next to eachother in our sorority. She was recently accepted into the University of Hilo, Hawaii for next spring semester as she does a national exchange program! (Don’t even ask me how jealous I am …or how much I’ll miss her) And as for my mom, she just recently retired from 27 incredible years of teaching! I could not be more proud of all she’s accomplished and can’t wait to see what she does next! And as for Annie.. well she continues to know all my deepest darkest secrets and some how manages to not tell a soul. What a true bestie.
As for my friends, they’ve been wonderful as always. Many turned 21 this year, studied abroad, got amazing internships near and far, graduated, got into graduate/med/law school, some got real adult jobs, one got engaged, and a few are even getting married this year! Wow life hits you fast!
Other mile stones of my year? Well I turned 21 (official adulthood yay!) tricked my boyfriend into dating me for almost a year and a half now, signed my first ever lease on a house, took a trip to Kansas City with a bestie, saw my all time favorite singer, John Mayer, live, won $15 on a slot machine in Downtown Deadwood (I’m rich!), raised $145,422.55 for Children’s Miracle Network through Dakotathon, and finished off my junior year of college on a great note. So yeah, it’s been a pretty good year.
Sorry for the long post, and for the long delay in posts lately. This summer I’ll be blogging a lot more frequently. If there’s anything you would like to know about me or anything you would like for me to write about definitely let me know! Just check out my contact page on my site and send me a message! Thanks again for reading!
